Shred Event Print E-mail

CountrySide, in conjunction with Cascades and Great Falls Chase, will be holding a FREE shred event on Saturday, May 20th from 9am-12pm at the Parkway Parking Lot located at 46020 Algonkian Parkway.  There is a 5 box maximum of shred material per vehicle.

Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed.  However, please take a moment to make sure all binder clips are removed as this slows the shred process for everyone when we have to remove them on-site at the shred event.  Any plastic materials, binders, or x-rays cannot be shredded and need to be removed.  Box removal is not included, so please plan on taking home all boxes with you for re-use.

Let It Snow .... Print E-mail

While the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has more than 1500 employees and pieces of equipment ready in the event of a storm, we hope you remember a few rules for safe driving in snowy weather:

  • Before you get behind the wheel, know the road conditions and weather forecast. For road conditions in Northern Virginia, call 703-383-VDOT (8368). For statewide highway information call the Highway Helpline at 800-367-ROAD.
  • Restrict travel until road crews have had a chance to clear the roads.
  • Keep vehicle windows, mirrors, roofs and lights clear of snow and ice.
  • Allow extra travel time.
  • Know the road surface. Black ice is invisible and could be present.
  • Be alert to potentially icy areas like shady spots and bridges.
  • Keep a safe distance of at least 5 car lengths behind other vehicles.
  • Stay behind the snowplow: the road BEHIND the snowplow is safer.
  • Never cut between a caravan of snowplows.
  • Keep an emergency winter driving kit in your vehicle.
  • When snow is forecast try not to park on your subdivision street, particularly in a cul-de-sac.

Also, Please click here to see the Proprietary's snow removal policy and a listing of which streets are plowed by the Proprietary and those that are plowed by VDOT.

Countywide Open Burning Ban in Effect Until Further Notice Due to Weather Print E-mail
Effective September 8, 2010, the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office has issued a countywide open burning ban due to the extremely dry conditions as well as the Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service. This means that open burning is prohibited countywide until further notice. It is anticipated that the ban will remain in effect until the area receives measurable precipitation. This regulation also applies to the seven incorporated towns within Loudoun County. Citizens are advised that violations of the open burning regulations are a Class 1 misdemeanor under the Loudoun County Fire Prevention Code.  Convictions may result in a fine of up to $2,500.00 and up to one year in jail.

For further information or questions regarding the open air burning restrictions, contact the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office at 703-737-8600. Information is also available at Contact: Mary L. Maguire or Dustin Sternbeck, Department of Fire, Rescue & Emergency Management, 703-777-0333

Home-Based Business Resolution Print E-mail

Earlier this year, the CountrySide Board of Directors voted to create an Ad Hoc Home-Based Business Committee in an effort to further communicate with our residents on the issue of home-based businesses that was first raised last year.   The ad hoc committee has been meeting monthly and has agreed to a draft resolution to clarify how the Board will interpret and enforce the Covenant resolution addressing business use of dwellings in CountrySide.  The committee has been open to input from all residents of the community.  The committee believes that this draft resolution balances the desire of some residents to operate businesses out of their homes with the goal of maintaining the residential nature of CountrySide and conforming to our governing documents.
